Bills BREAKING: Shaq Lawson Signs to Stay in Buffalo

Shaq Lawson is now back again, with an agreement on a one-year deal to stick with the Bills.

And yet again, for defensive end Shaq Lawson, the Buffalo Bills will always be home.

Lawson returned to Buffalo a year ago after bouncing around the NFL with stops with the Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans, and New York Jets.

According to Lawson as of a year ago, he hadn’t been himself "in a minute."

"I'm just more comfortable, I can be myself around these guys," said Lawson, then, reflecting on his career that started as  a Bills' first-round pick in 2016. "They let me be myself. Coach (Sean) McDermott lets me be myself. This defense, I've been in this system a long [time] so when I came back it was just like a review to me, just picking right back up where I left off at.

“But mostly just being myself, being a talkative Shaq … and being the player that I was when I was here [before]."

And now he’s back again, with a Monday agreement on a one-year deal.

After heading for Miami via free agency in 2020, Lawson saw his productivity drop - particularly after being traded to the Texans in 2021. Lawson never settled in down south, and soon headed to the New York Jets via another trade where he made 14 appearances, recording one sack before being released in January.

Part of a deep defensive line, Lawson, now ready to keep rolling at age 29 this season, will contribute to a group that also welcomes back a healthy Von Miller.

Lawson last year said he was "learning a lot" with the two-time Super Bowl winner "teaching me different pass rush moves.”

More moves on the field. No more moves in free agency. Shaq is back.
