Bills AFC East Reign Left 'Vulnerable' After Jets Upgrades? Ex Buffalo WR Weighs In

After strong offseasons by the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets, do the Buffalo Bills have a bigger threat to their grip on the AFC East?

The AFC East was already considered one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL. Still, heading into the 2023 season, it is arguably the best in the league after all of its teams seem to be in contention to make the playoffs.

For the Buffalo Bills, they have a big target on their back, being the holders of the division title in each of the past three seasons. But their road to taking the AFC East for the fourth-straight time is shaping up to be significantly harder, as everyone team made strides this offseason to strengthen. This has led two analysts from NFL.com to name the Bills as the "most vulnerable" division winner.

The first of which is a former member of the Bills, retired receiver Emmanuel Sanders, who mentions despite Buffalo also making moves this offseason, it is more about what other teams like the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins have done.

"The Jets scored an infusion of talent, including four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers, while the Dolphins made some big additions of their own, including trading for Jalen Ramsey, one of the best cornerbacks in the league," Sanders writes. "The Patriots made significant changes, too, with the major one being hiring back offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien. Plus, I'm never counting out Bill Belichick."

While the other analyst, former NFL quarterback David Carr, added to what Sanders wrote by mentioning the belief that the Jets were a "quarterback away" from the playoffs last season, then adding that a healthy Tua Tagovailoa makes an impact for the Dolphins.

Despite the Bills not making the splashy moves that the Jets and Dolphins did, Buffalo's roster is still viewed within the top-five in the NFL. Will the moves by the rest of the AFC East be enough to catch the Bills?

Time will tell.
