Buffalo Bills' Legend Andre Reed Robbed During Week 5 Trip to London
The Buffalo Bills' trip to London came with the requisite hype and fanfare expected of the exciting NFL International series. Virtually none of it worked out in the Bills' favor.
They lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars, 25-20. In the process, linebacker Matt Milano and defensive tackle DaQuan Jones went down with severe, potentially season-ending injuries.
Adding insult to injury, Bills’ legendary receiver Andre Reed had a bad weekend, too.
Reed had an appearance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, through Big Game Travel, in London to celebrate Buffalo’s trans-Atlantic trip. During this time, his hotel room was broken into. His, and his wife, Theresa’s, possessions were stolen.
The Hall of Fame receiver released a statement on social media on Thursday.
“Sounds like people have been stealing stuff this week,” Reed said. “Someone in [the] UK came in our room while I was at an appearance and stole my Hall of Fame ring, jewelry, shoes, purses, clothing, passports.”
Reed updated Bills fans on his status, letting them know that the police were on the case and that emergency passports were in his possession. Even so, one can imagine how rattling the situation is, even for someone of Reed’s stature.
“Feeling unsafe and violated,” he said.
It’s possible the next time Buffalo sees their esteemed receiver, he’ll be honored or a part of a celebration at Highmark Stadium. He spent 15 years with Buffalo, from 1985-1999.
For now, he left Bills fans with a message that resonates.
“Need to be better people.”
Buffalo returns home in Week 6 for a Sunday Night Football matchup with the New York Giants, where they’ll look to get back in the win column. From injuries to star players to violations of team legends, the Bills community could use a win on Sunday.
