Bills GM Brandon Beane Has 'A Lot of Faith' in WR Gabe Davis
There is no doubt that the top weapon for Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is receiver Stefon Diggs. After all, they are arguably the best quarterback-receiver duo in the NFL.
After Diggs, though, Allen's second favorite target last season was Gabe Davis, who some believe was poised for a breakout 2022 season. Speaking at the combine, general manager Brandon Beane addressed those expectations.
“Coming off that Kansas City game the year before, people probably had some unrealistic expectations,” Beane said via Democrat and Chronicle.
Davis finished the season as the second-leading receiver behind Diggs with 836 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. However, Beane also revealed that he suffered a high ankle sprain in a Week 2 practice that he played through.
“Not to make excuses, but it definitely bothered him,” Beane said. “You can just watch the film when he was coming out of his cuts, he was taking an extra step which allowed that defender to stay attached to him as well."
"He had a few drops that he definitely wants back, but I’ve got a lot of faith in Gabe.”
With rumors circulating that the Bills might look to use their first-round pick on a receiver, Beane made sure to express his confidence in the budding receiver.
Of course, the Bills could still draft a receiver, but even if they do one thing is clear - they believe that Davis can be the second receiver behind Diggs.
