Buffalo Bills LB Coach Bobby Babich Requested for Interview by New York Giants

A mainstay on the Buffalo Bills defensive coaching staff could be on the move.

The New York Giants requested an interview with Bills linebackers coach Bobby Babich, per reports Tuesday from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Babich has been on the coaching staff alongside head coach Sean McDermott since he arrived in 2017. Babich joined the staff as the safeties and assistant defensive backs coach in 2017, then was just the safeties coach from 2018-2021.

Babich then became the linebackers coach in 2022 and just wrapped up his second season in that position. His role in the development of linebacker Terrel Bernard should draw many eyes, as in his first season as a starting linebacker, he had 143 tackles and 6.5 sacks.

Babich also has familiarity with Giants head coach Brian Daboll, who was the Bills offensive coordinator from 2018-2021.

Unfortunately, Buffalo's linebacker corps was decimated by injuries this season. All-Pro stat Matt Milano suffered a season-ending injury in Week 6. Bernard battled through some ailments before being carted off in the Wild Card win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tyrel Dodson got nicked-up a bit as well.

Regardless of where Babich ends up, the Bills have a strong future at the position thanks to Bernard, Milano, Dodson and Dorian Williams, who just completed his rookie year.
