'Oh My God!' Bills Signing Curtis Samuel Has NFL WR Expert 'Thrilled'

Receiver evaluator Matt Harmon couldn't stop praising the Buffalo Bills' decision to sign receiver Curtis Samuel.

Gabe who?

This offseason has been one of rebooting for the Buffalo Bills, one that has forced them to find new roster staples after bidding farewell to several incumbents in that department. Gabe Davis, one of Josh Allen's favorite targets over four years in Orchard Park, was one of them, as he signed a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In Davis' place comes Curtis Samuel, who will don red, white, and blue after seven seasons between Carolina and Washington. By conventional means, Samuel doesn't seem to be a true needle-mover in terms of the Super Bowl picture, having reached over 800 receiving yards and 70 receptions on just one occasion (2020). Yahoo! Sports analyst Harmon, known for the "Reception Perception" method of evaluating receivers, however, couldn't stop praising the gain on the "Yahoo! Fantasy Football Show."

"I’m completely thrilled. Oh my God, This is awesome," Harmon said. "What an upgrade over Gabe Davis! You get Curtis Samuel out there? That is really interesting to me."

Samuel entered the league as a second-round pick out of Ohio State in 2017. He's now set to serve as one of Allen's top targets for the next three years on a $24 million contract.

While Harmon's evaluation (which partly centers on how catchers gel with their quarterbacks and what they do when they're not getting the ball) has always been high on Samuel's potential, he believes a reunion with Joe Brady will work wonders for all parties. Brady previously oversaw Samuel's aforementioned career-best campaign as the offensive coordinator of the Panthers and is now set to embark upon his first full-time campaign in the same slot with the Bills.

Brady, whose promotion upon Ken Dorsey's ousting re-energized the Bills' offense, could once again tap into Samuel's dual-threat abilities once he's firmly entrenched in the Western New York offense.

BREAKING: Bills Signing WR Curtis Samuel

"Curtis Samuel had his best season in the NFL in Joe Brady’s offense. In 2020, he had 1,000 total yards, over 800 receiving yards, over 200 rushing yards. He was awesome. I think that he can be used in more true receiver ways and I think he can probably be deployed more as a flanker."

"I love this signing for the Bills. I love this signing for my guy, Curtis Samuel. I mean, this is absolutely electric. What a time. What a freaking time to be alive.”
