Bills TE Dalton Kincaid 'Flashes' vs. Steelers, Taking Rookie 'Lessons'

After the Buffalo Bills' miserable showing against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Saturday's preseason game, rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid is using the loss as motivation

Coming out of Saturday's 27-15 preseason loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium, the Buffalo Bills have are looking for any positives they can salvage.

Even the final score is deceiving, as the Bills trailed 27-0 heading into the fourth quarter. Buffalo turned the ball over four times, including three interceptions by quarterback Matt Barkley, and took 13 penalties for 93 yards. This game also marked the first glimpse of action for the Bills' starters, and it wasn't a good showing to say the least.

The silver lining is that any NFL game, no matter how ugly, gives teams a chance to learn and improve going forward. Rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid believes losses such as this are just part of the process, and he feels the team will benefit going forward.

"I think this week in practice more than anything," Kincaid told reporters after the game. "Obviously we're going to watch the tape and kind of make corrections from there, but just take it as a lesson and watch some film and correct those mistakes this week."

In a game full of negatives, Kincaid was one of the few bright spots for the Bills. The first-round pick out of Utah had 45 yards on just three receptions, finishing just two yards shy of the team lead. Kincaid did not have a catch against the Indianapolis Colts last week, but made up for that with a strong showing against the Steelers.

"I saw Dalton flash," coach Sean McDermott said.

"Kincaid came out and made some really nice plays for us, and that's a positive sign," quarterback Josh Allen said.

Kincaid and the Bills will have a chance to put this performance behind them when they travel to face the Chicago Bears in the preseason finale on Saturday.
