Bills' Damar Hamlin Set for 'Secret Celebrity Renovation'
Well-known for his defensive takedowns, Buffalo Bills defender Damar Hamlin is building up an inspirational gift.
Hamlin is set to appear on Friday night's episode of "Secret Celebrity Renovation," a CBS reality series that features public figures overseeing home renovation projects for their loved ones. Hamlin's episode will air at 8 p.m. ET.
CBS released a preview of Hamlin's appearance this week, which reveals that he's planning a domestic surprise for his grandmother, Portia Stockton. The sneak peek shows Hamlin whisking off Stockton (who knows something's afoot but not the "full scope") for an apparent getaway while he offers run of her house to host Nischelle Turner, interior designer Sabrina Soto, and contractor Robert "Boston Rob" Mariano.
"I watched my grandma just work hard and try to be there for others any way that she can for my entire life," Hamlin tells Turner as they make their way to Stockton's soon-to-be-refurbished home. "It's my turn to return the favor to her."
Hamlin is the latest NFL star to offer a "Secret Celebrity Renovation," with previous guests including Aaron Donald, Boomer Esiason, and Emmitt Smith.
Stockton was undoubtedly one of the many family members who were there to support Hamlin after his cardiac arrest episode during a January game in Cincinnati. The airing of Hamlin's episode comes shortly after it was revealed that he had clinched a spot on Buffalo's opening day roster.
Hamlin and the Bills kick off their regular season on Monday, Sept. 11 when they close out Week 1 play against their divisional rivals, the New York Jets, at MetLife Stadium (8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN/ABC).
