Bills Officially Place Damar Hamlin on Injured Reserve
With a newfound sense of motivation after an emotional week, the Buffalo Bills are moving forward with their Super Bowl aspirations.
And in doing so, the team is making the necessary roster moves to the 53-man squad as the playoffs approach, as the Bills announced Friday that they have activated cornerback Christian Benford from injured reserve and placed safety Damar Hamlin on IR.
Hamlin went into cardiac arrest in the first quarter during Monday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The game was postponed after Hamlin was rushed to the hospital and has officially been cancelled.
Fortunately, updates surrounding his recovery have been uplifting and positive, as he spoke to the Bills via Zoom on Friday.
This is lighting an emotional fire into a Bills team that already highly motivated to make a Super Bowl run before Hamlin's incident.
"We want to go out there and play for 3," Bills quarterback Josh Allen said Thursday. "Obviously we'll be playing with less heavy hearts now. Today's news was a lot of tears of joy, I'll tell you that."
The Bills (12-3) and New England Patriots (8-8) are set to kickoff at 1 p.m. ET from Highmark Stadium on Sunday, as Hamlin will he honored and at the forefront of everyone's mind.
"To know that that's what he wants, that's what his dad wants, I think guys are excited to get out there," Allen said.
