Bills vs. Patriots: Buffalo Betting Favorites to Sign DeAndre Hopkins? Says Who?

The Buffalo Bills are supposedly betting favorites to land the former Arizona Cardinals star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

As Arizona Cardinals former wide receiver Deandre Hopkins tried to work his way out of the desert earlier this offseason, the Buffalo Bills were early betting favorites to land the star via a trade.

For the Bills, they are in theory looking for a second receiver to pair with Stefon Diggs, with Gabe Davis obviously also involved. The thinking: This would ultimately open up the Josh Allen-led offense and would further seal their situation as Super Bowl contenders.

However, once Hopkins was released by his former team, things began to change. The Bills aren't a team with much cap flexibility - or better said, aren't willing to do much more "credit-card'' management of the cap - and this handicaps their ability to bring in Hopkins.

WGR 550's Joe DiBiase, however, claims that the Bills are still among the top of the teams when it comes to betting odds to land the wideout.

Hopkins spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Houston Texans before being traded to the Cardinals, where he has spent the last three seasons of his career.

In the odds noted by DiBiase, the Bills trail only the New England Patriots as the teams with the best odds to sign the five-time Pro Bowler.

Hopkins has now met with both the Patriots and the Tennessee Titans, yet he remains unsigned and uncommitted to any team for the upcoming season. Is this a sign of hope for Bills fans? That's not the word we get from Hopkins' "circle,'' though there is also gossip now that he's waiting to sign in the hopes that another bidder will arise.

Though the Bills can't provide the salary that the other two teams can offer, they've got an edge over the Pats and most others when it comes to talent. Allen is a premier quarterback talent and Hopkins and Diggs would be one of the best receiver duos across the entire NFL.

The Bills being able to pry away the receiver from their rivals in New England? We don't see it. But ... place your bets!
