Bills Trade for Derrick Henry?! ESPN Analyst Has Bold Prediction on Titans RB

The Buffalo Bills are a few pieces away from getting over that Super Bowl hump, with one of the glaring areas of need being at running back. Could a trade for Tennessee Titans star ball-carrier Derrick Henry remedy the problem?

It’s a scary site to imagine Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Tennessee Titans star running back Derrick Henry in the same backfield. At the end of the day though, all you have to do is pair the two together on the latest edition of Madden 23 and watch them wreak havoc against the CPU or your online opponents.

But this is hardly a video game. This is an actual bold trade prediction that ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington brought up on the network’s Tuesday edition of "Get Up!"

"You want to trade a guy before it's too late," he said. "Maybe they get something. Trade away Derrick Henry to the Buffalo Bills. Just speculating here, but man, that'd be a fun one."

While this prediction is certainly bold, it's definitely not impossible. Henry remains one of the league's top running backs and overall players after finishing second in the league in both rushing yards (1,538) and rushing yards per game (96.1), first in carries (349) and tied for second in rushing touchdowns (13).

However, while playing football's most expendable position, he's entering the final year of his contract at 29-years-old.

Despite all that Henry's accomplished in his dominant career, the Titans may not feel excited about inking a running back who's approaching age 30 to another big deal. Instead, trade him away to get the most value possible.

The Bills almost seem like the perfect fit. Buffalo is a few pieces away from getting over that Super Bowl hump, with one of the glaring areas of need being at running back. Incredibly, the Bills haven't had a 1,000-yard rusher since LeSean McCoy in 2017, as this has been a long-standing issue.

But adding Henry alongside Allen in the backfield would leave defenses chattering their teeth. Imagine the read-option game that the Bills could implement. Which player takes the defense's attention?

It would also be quite fitting to see Henry in Buffalo considering the damage he’s done to the franchise in recent meetings ...at least barring the 41-7 blowout win for the Bills in Week 2 of this past season.

Aside from the three divisional rivals in the AFC South, Henry has faced the Bills five times in his career, more than any other opponent. In those games, he's totaled 83 carries for 359 yards and seven touchdowns. The Bills likely still have nightmares from when Henry posted 20 carries for 143 yards and three scores in a 34-31 win over Buffalo in 2021.

Henry has faced the Bills every season since 2018 and is all too familiar with the team. Maybe Buffalo takes this a step further a makes him permanent part of the group with what would be a blockbuster trade.

But as with every offseason, bold predictions are just that ... bold.
