'Come On Over!': Bills' Dion Dawkins Advocates For Tee Higgins Trade, Takes Jab At Jets
The Buffalo Bills seem to be playing it safe this offseason, and with them having to shed many big names just to get under the salary cap, it's not too surprising to see them taking such an approach.
That said, a few Bills players would still like to see the team take a big swing if at all possible. On Fanduel TV's Up and Adams show, Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins shared his desire to team up with Cincinnati Bengals star receiver Tee Higgins, while also sneaking in a shot at the rival New York Jets.
"Tee Higgins? Tee Higgins from the Bengals, right?" Dawkins said. "Yeah, we know that guy. First of all, it would definitely work. As long as we're not getting [any] Jets guys I'm good. Tee Higgins is a player that can help Josh (Allen) and help this team get to where we [want to go]....if they're talking about Tee Higgins, then Tee Higgins, come on over bro and let's get this thing done."
Higgins, who has eclipsed 1,000 yards in two of the past three seasons, is arguably the top receiver on the trade market this offseason. The 25-year-old is currently at an impasse with the Bengals in contract talks, and after receiving the franchise tag, he officially requested a trade on Monday.
The former Clemson star would be a great addition in Buffalo, but unfortunately for Bills Mafia, it's extremely unlikely to actually happen.
Even after a massive purge to save money, the Bills are still very tight on cap space with only around $1.4 million as of Wednesday night. Adding Higgins, who is due to make nearly $22 million on the franchise tag next season and wants a long-term extension, is simply not feasible with Buffalo's current cap predicament.
Bills BREAKING: Dion Dawkins Signs Contract Extension - Details
As for Dawkins' jab at the Jets, the offensive tackle recently made his hatred for the AFC East rival very clear, so it's no surprise to see him doubling down on it.
