Bills Draft: Wake Forest WR A.T. Perry a Mid-Round Target?
The Buffalo Bills are likely to be in the market for some help at wide receiver as the start of 2023 NFL Draft fast approaches.
Though it was assumed by many that Buffalo would seek such enhancement from free agency, a deep talent pool in this season’s draft class appears to be tempting its need at wideout a bit more prominently.
Wake Forest wide receiver A.T. Perry is one of the more intriguing candidates to fill Buffalo’s need at the position. At 6-3, 195 pounds, the Demon Deacons’ junior possesses the skill set on the perimeter which could be a strong complement to top wideout Stefon Diggs. It's also conceivable that he may challenge Gabe Davis for the second spot on the depth chart.
Perry is entering the NFL on the heels of a successful season in which he hauled in 81 catches, 1096 yards and 11 touchdowns. While his height and length give him an intrinsic advantage over most defenders, the 23-year-old only amplifies it by exhibiting amazing body control to make nearly any catch. Though he does his best work on the outside, his size and strength make him a significant target for quarterback Josh Allen in the red zone.
In addition to Diggs and Davis, Buffalo currently employs receivers Khalil Shaker, Trent Sherfield, Deonte Harty, KeeSean Johnson, Isaiah Coulter and Desmond Patmon. While the Bills are expected to address more pressing needs with first and second-round Draft capital, Perry could be an intriguing option as early as Round Three (91 overall) or perhaps at their fourth selection at No. 130.
Regardless of their investment of draft capital, it is a strong liklihood that Bills general manager Brandon Beane is taking a notable look at Perry as a potential solution to the team’s need at receiver.
