'Bills DNA': WR Gabe Davis Wins 'Lifter of The Year' Award

Buffalo Bills receiver Gabe Davis is the recipient of the team's Lifter of the Year award, per a post his mother shared on social media.

Buffalo Bills receiver Gabe Davis is entering his fourth NFL season, and it could be a make-or-break campaign.

A 2020 fourth-round pick out of Central Florida, Davis has shown flashes of being a great NFL receiver. Of course, the most notable instance came in the 2022 Divisional Round against the Kansas City Chiefs, when he caught eight passes for 201 yards and set a playoff record with four receiving touchdowns. At times, the 6-2, 210-pound receiver looks like a high-end No. 2 pass-catcher in the league.

However, Davis is very much a boom-or-bust player. He has some truly great performances, but also many forgettable ones. Take last season for example, when Davis had 836 yards and seven touchdowns, but 171 of those yards and two touchdowns came in a Week 5 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With mixed production throughout his career, Davis is entering the final year of his rookie deal with no extension in place. How he performs this upcoming season will likely have a big impact on his future in the league.

But if his work off the field translates onto it, though, Davis will be in good shape. The fourth-year receiver won the Bills' Lifter of the Year Award, his mother Alana Davis shared on Twitter.

"Awards were given out to players after camp yesterday and Gabriel won lifter of the year AGAIN!!" Alana Davis wrote. "One thing NO ONE can EVER take away from my son is how hard he works! It’s KNOWN!! Is it football season yet?! He’s ready! Lfg!!"

Davis' mother isn't the only one to praise his work ethic. Bills beat reporter Sal Capaccio quoted the tweet, adding that Davis has the "Bills DNA."

"Love the pride from Gabe Davis’ mom, Capaccio wrote. "I’ve said many, many times, Gabe has the exact “Bills DNA” the organization looks for."

As the Bills pursue the ever-elusive Lombardi Trophy, Davis finding some more consistency in 2023 would be a huge boost.
