Jordan Poyer Setting Tone for Buffalo Bills' Defense: 'Get A Stop!'

The Buffalo Bills defense wasn't able to get the stop on the final drive against the New England Patriots.

For the second time in as many weeks, the Buffalo Bills found themselves in a battle against a one-win team. Only this time, they weren't able to escape it unscathed.

Mac Jones led the New England Patriots on a game-winning drive that culminated in a touchdown pass to Mike Gesicki with 12 seconds left in the game and led to a 29-25 upset loss for the Bills at Gillette Stadium.

"We've just got to find a way to get a stop," Jordan Poyer said. "Whether that's taking the football away [or] playing better situational football. That's a situation that as a defense, we like to feel like we can thrive in. Those are the type of situations you want to be in at the end of the game to be able to close the game out for your team."

The Bills (4-3) have lost two out of their last three games and remain in second place in the AFC East behind the Miami Dolphins (5-2).

The parallels between Buffalo's 14-9 win over the Giants and loss to the Patriots (2-5) are staggering. The Bills' offense got off to a slow start in the first half, being shut out by the Giants and only putting up a field goal against New England.

The defense played well enough to keep the team in the game, then Josh Allen and the offense finally got going in the second half, pulling them within a stop of winning the game.

While Buffalo got a defensive stand to end the game last week when Taron Johnson was able to help break up the pass against Darren Waller against New York, he wasn't as fortunate against the Patriots as Gesicki skied over him to make the game-winning catch.

"This is a very long season," Poyer said. "[Starting] 4-3 maybe not where we wanted to be at the beginning of the year, but we've got a short week this week, and the games are going to keep coming. No reason to sulk into this one and turn one loss into two."

The Bills have a quick turnaround, as they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-3) on Thursday Night Football at Highmark Stadium at 8:15 p.m.
