Bills Jordan Poyer's Golf Tournament Back on Schedule After Donald Trump Backlash
Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer announced Friday that he is set to have his charity golf tournament back on despite receiving heavy political criticism regarding the location of the event.
The Erie County Medical Center was set to serve as a primary sponsor of Poyer's Celebrity Open event, but pulled out since the tourney was going to be held at Donald Trump's Doral course right outside of Miami. As a result, the financial backing for the charity event was now gone due to political reasons.
But now, a Florida-based company called PublicSq is going to sponsor the tournament, which will take place on Monday, July 10 at Trump's course.
Poyer made an appearance on Fox News to announce the new development:
Poyer's representatives at Avalon Sports released a statement regarding Friday's news:
"We are grateful to announce that PublicSq will be our presenting sponsor for this year's edition," Avalon said.
PublicSq also released a statement.
“PublicSq is proud to partner with Jordan Poyer," CEO of PublicSQ, Michael Seifert, told The New York Post. "We’re glad to see he’s standing against the cancel-culture mob that tried to shut down this charity event and we will always support freedom-loving Americans like Jordan whenever there is an opportunity to do so.”
Poyer said on Fox that he already has a long list of players and influencers who are set to attend the event.
