'A Different Josh!' Bills QB Allen New Approach Toward 'Elite'
Josh Allen has been key to the Buffalo Bills remaining in a position to compete at the highest level, but the team has struggled to get over the hump in the playoffs.
Part of the reason the team hasn't been able to overcome the postseason demons is Allen's decision-making as a quarterback. Despite his elite skills, he can oftentimes get lost in trying to make the big play and force a turnover.
Fortunately for the 27-year-old quarterback, there's still room for improvement, and in many ways we've seen him improve year after year.
“I think more, dive into what went wrong last year, understanding myself a little bit more in terms of, ‘Why are my eyes starting here?’” Allen said to ESPN. “And again, just being more in depth about my entire process, whether it's film work or studying myself a day after practice and just making sure that my feet are marrying up with my eyes and my eyes are starting in the right spot. I think that that's been maybe a cause of some of the problems that I've had in the past.”
The first step to making the necessary improvements in his game is self awareness, and Allen seems to have that. Not only that, but Bills coach Sean McDermott said something similar that backs Allen's statement.
“I've seen a different Josh this offseason, not that it was bad before, but he's got a new sense of focus, I would say, and determination, which is good,” McDermott said.
It appears as if Allen is focused on doing what it takes to bring the Bills squad to the next step. With him cleaning up his game, the ceiling of this team raises exponentially. Being an elite team begins with a quarterback that plays with consistency, and Allen finding that will make everything easier for the entire team.
