Bills QB Josh Allen Looking to Avoid A Meaningless AFC East Title

The Buffalo Bills accomplished one of their major goals by winning a fourth-straight AFC East title, but their true goals lie in the postseason.

Just over a month ago, the Buffalo Bills' hopes of winning a fourth-straight AFC East championship looked bleak at best.

The Bills were coming out of their bye week at just 6-6, a full three games behind the division-leading Miami Dolphins. At that point, they were just trying to keep their slim playoff hopes alive while the division was a secondary goal.

Flash forward to Sunday, and Buffalo not only won the division by beating Miami in the final game of the regular season, but claimed the No. 2 seed in the AFC. The Bills' season has been full of ups and downs, but fortunately for them, they are entering the postseason on a high.

However, the Bills' second chance at life is as valuable as what they do with it, and quarterback Josh Allen is well aware of that fact.

"At the end of the day, this is fun, this is cool and never say no to winning a division. But the only thing that it solidifies is a home game and one more game," Allen told reporters after Sunday's game. "So it doesn't mean anything if we go out there next week and don't do our job, so we got to find a way to put our best foot forward and go find a victory next week."

At this point, a division title is familiar territory for Buffalo, as is playoff heartbreak. Over the past three years, the Bills have made the AFC Championship Game once and lost in the Divisional Round twice, despite winning the division and looking like one of the league's best teams.

Bills Win AFC East Title, Finalize 2024 Opponents

The Bills will celebrate their win over the Dolphins and another division title briefly, but after that, it's time to buckle down and prepare for the postseason, starting with a Sunday afternoon game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"You've got to really enjoy the wins and then get back to work like we've got to do when we land," coach Sean McDermott said.
