Bills QB Josh Allen Jokingly Reacts To Losing MVP to Lamar Jackson: 'I Didn't Get It?'
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has consistently come close to winning MVP over the past few years, but he hasn't been able bring it home.
That unfortunate trend continued at Thursday night's NFL Honors, when Allen placed fifth in MVP voting. Notably, though, he was the only player to earn a first-place vote aside from MVP winner Lamar Jackson, who had 49 said votes.
Despite coming up short of the most-coveted personal award in the NFL, Allen didn't seem too torn up about it. Allen first heard the news through former NFL offensive tackle and co-host of Bussin' With the Boys Taylor Lewan, and brushed it off with a smile.
"Heartbreak. I didn't get it? I didn't get?!" Allen said in jest before fake crying.
Take a look:
When told he received the stray first-place vote, Allen only kept the comedy routine going. He said he was "honored" to get that vote, while Lewan then joked that if Allen kept at this pace, he would win the award in about 35 years.
"We'll get there. We'll get there," Allen said.
MVP Voter Reveals Why He Gave Allen Only Other First-Place Vote
After some up-and-down performances early on, Allen caught fire down the stretch to finish the regular season with 4,830 total yards (passing and rushing) and 44 total touchdowns. Allen actually beat Jackson in both of those categories, so one could make an argument that he deserved the award instead.
What's done is done, though, and Allen now must turn his attention to next season if he wants to win MVP and a Super Bowl.
