Josh Allen ‘Childhood Dream Come True!’ Bills QB Madden Cover Makes History
EA Sports announced Wednesday morning that Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen will be the cover athlete for Madden 24, the latest in a long line of endorsements that suggest he's become one of the faces of the NFL …
And Josh’s reaction? The honor is “a childhood dream come true,” he said via social media.
Since being selected with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Allen has turned his incredible physical skills into being one of the more complete quarterbacks that the sport has ever seen. Over the last three seasons, Allen has tossed 108 touchdowns to 39 interceptions, while also adding 21 touchdown scampers. The 27-year-old hasn't yet won an NFL MVP, but he finished third in 2022, and runner-up in 2020.
Allen follows up the late-John Madden -- the Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster that the game was named after -- who graced the cover of last year's edition after his passing. The first game of the series was produced in 1988, and Madden was on the cover every year from the inagural edition through Madden 2000. Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George became the first player to be on the cover of the game in 2001.
Notably, Allen is the first Bills player to ever be on the cover of Madden. Among active quarterbacks, he joins Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs (2020, 2022) and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens (2021) as those who have been on the cover of the sport's most popular video game.
This year's edition of Madden won't come out until Aug. 18, but you can already pre-order the game on EA Sports' website.
