Bills QB Josh Allen Previews Chiefs Matchup: 'Thank God!'
The Buffalo Bills passed their first test of the playoffs on Monday by defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-17 at home, but it doesn't get any easier from here.
Next up, a visit from an old friend in the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills have experienced heartbreaking losses at the hands of the Chiefs in two of the last three seasons, first in the 2020 AFC Championship Game and then again in the 2021 Divisional Round. Kansas City's offense may be a bit weaker than past iterations, but this is still an extremely dangerous team.
Just after Monday's game went final, the Bills immediately turned their attention to their next opponent. More than anyone, star quarterback Josh Allen knows that the Bills will have to come together to come out on top.
“It’s going to take a team effort,” Allen told reporters. “They’re playing really good football right now. We’re going to need everyone in Bills Mafia to come out and support us… just thank God we get to play another football game.”
Despite finally getting the Chiefs on their home turf, the Bills have a few external factors working against them. For one, they are getting two fewer days of rest than their opponent, as Kansas City dispatched the Miami Dolphins on Saturday night. For two, the Bills suffered some big injuries against the Steelers, most notably a sprained ankle by linebacker Terrel Bernard.
Still, the Bills aren't going to make excuses for themselves.
“It’s a later start. We’re a step behind,” Allen said. “We understand that. It’s crucial for guys to get that rest, get in the training room, and rehab as much as they can.”
