Bills QB Josh Allen Skipping Out on Pro Bowl; Who Takes His Place?
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is being replaced at the 2022 Pro Bowl Games, per reports Tuesday from NFL Network. He is set being subbed out for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley, who is receiving his first-career Pro Bowl nod.
Allen is still dealing with a lingering elbow injury, but is also scheduled to compete in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this week, which certainly played a role in his decision to skip the Pro Bowl.
This marks back-to-back seasons that Allen has declined his invitation to the Pro Bowl due to recovery from injury or the ailments of the season. Allen suffered his elbow injury in a 20-17 loss to the New York Jets in Week 9, but never missed any action.
Huntley, who stepped in for an injured Lamar Jackson in the back half of this season, went 75 of 112 passing for 658 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions while adding 43 carries for 137 yards and another score.
Huntley was nearly Baltimore's hero in the AFC Wild Card against the Cincinnati Bengals, as he tried to dive over the goal line at the beginning of the fourth quarter with the game tied 17-17.
Instead, Huntley fumbled and had to watch as Bengals defensive end Sam Hubbard returned the ball 98 yards to the house, which essentially ended Baltimore's season.
Still, Huntley was solid against the defending AFC champs. He went 17 of 29 passing for 226 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
The Bills will now have seven Pro Bowlers participating in Las Vegas, as receiver Stefon Diggs, center Mitch Morse, linebacker Matt Milano, safety Jordan Poyer, tight end Dawson Knox, offensive tackle Dion Dawkins and offensive guard Rodger Saffold will be in action on Sunday.
