Unlikely Alliance? Dolphins DB DeShon Elliott 'Praying' For Bills To Beat Chiefs
How strong are divisional rivalries? Apparently, not as strong as the old adage of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend."
The Buffalo Bills play host to the Kansas City Chiefs in a hotly-anticipated Divisional Round matchup on Sunday, but before that, they've gained an unlikely supporter. Safety DeShon Elliott of the Miami Dolphins, who just lost to the Chiefs 26-7 on Saturday, is doing what many would consider as sacrilege and rooting for the division-rival Bills to avenge his team's playoff loss. The 26-year-old safety voiced his presumably-temporary support for Buffalo on his Instagram story.
“I pray by the grace of God on the Chiefs downfall, I hope Buffalo beats them like they stole something,” Elliott wrote.
It goes without saying that rooting for division rivals is generally frowned upon, especially when the rivalry is as lopsided as Bills-Dolphins has been lately.
Despite being the two premier teams in the AFC East over the past two years, Buffalo has won three of four matchups against Miami in that time and 11 of the last 12 games overall. The Dolphins' struggles against the Bills ended up costing them the division title this season, as Buffalo won the AFC East and the conference's No. 2 seed after sweeping Miami.

However, many have wanted to see the Chiefs get knocked off their perch for some time now, and it seems that mindset has made its way to the players too. Given that Elliott and the Dolphins just lost to the Chiefs, maybe it's not so surprising to see him rooting for the opposition.
The Bills and Chiefs will kick off from Highmark Stadium at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, hopefully closing out the Divisional Round on a high note.
