Buffalo Bills Strike Early And Often, Lead Kansas City Chiefs At Halftime

The Buffalo Bills made a big statement by taking a 14-7 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs into halftime.

The Buffalo Bills came into Sunday's road game against the Kansas City Chiefs badly needing a win, and at least in the first half, they certainly played like a desperate team.

Going against the defending Super Bowl champions, the Bills made a major statement by taking a 14-7 lead over their longtime rivals.

Right away, Buffalo's defense showed it came to play as A.J. Epenesa intercepted Patrick Mahomes on Kansas City's opening drive. The offense took a bit longer to get going, but James Cook got the party started later in the first quarter by taking a Josh Allen pass 25 yards to the house.

On the very next drive, Allen bulldozed his way into the end zone from six yards out to give the Bills a shocking two-touchdown lead.

As is often the case, though, the Chiefs' offense woke up eventually. After Chamarri Connor intercepted Allen near midfield, Jerick McKinnon rumbled his way into the end zone from seven yards out to finally get Kansas City on the board just before halftime.

Allen finished the first half with 122 yards, two touchdowns (one passing and one rushing) and one interception. Cook was the team's leading receiver by far with 83 yards and a touchdown on five catches.

Meanwhile, Mahomes completed 13 of 21 passes for 130 yards and an interception. Travis Kelce led the way in receiving with three catches for 42 yards.

The Bills will get the ball to start the second half as they look to continue imposing their will.
