Bills Ex Calls Out 'B****ing' Buffalo Fans: 'Stay on Your Couch'

Former Buffalo Bills tight end Lee Smith didn't mince his words when discussing the criticisms he's seen from Bills Mafia lately.

It's no secret that plenty of NFL teams have had it much worse than the Buffalo Bills in recent seasons.

After ending a 17-year postseason drought in 2017, the Bills have made the playoffs in five of the six seasons since. Clearly, something in the Orchard Park water has changed. And despite some disappointing postseason exits, the Bills remain perennial AFC contenders, something that hasn't been said since the Jim Kelly days.

So when former Buffalo tight end Lee Smith hears Bills Mafia complaining despite all the recent success, he makes sure to call it like he sees it.

“Now we’re b****ing about 13-win seasons, so it’s like give me a break,” Smith said on the "Shout!" podcast. “I’m anti-fan sometimes. I watched Josh Allen get booed off the field when I first came back (in 2019). So it’s like give me a break. Stay on your couch and worry about how you make a living."

Smith, who was drafted by Buffalo in the fifth round in 2011, played six seasons for the Bills during two separate stints before retiring with the Atlanta Falcons after the 2021 season.

While much of his frustration centers around what he sees as an under appreciation for Buffalo's recent success, he's also baffled at how many fans are treating offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, who was met with ample criticism due to the Bills' late-season offensive struggles.

Smith made it clear that fans need to give Dorsey time. After all, he just wrapped up his first season as offensive coordinator.

“Watch what Dorse and Josh (Allen) do next year together. It’s gonna be scary guys,” Smith said. “I’m just telling y’all, I’m telling y’all right now the Buffalo Bills are going to be terrifying next year with the rejuvenation and the healing that hopefully takes place this offseason. Just from this crazy tragic eight months.”

Smith has more experience in Buffalo then most, meaning his opinion should hardly be ignored. But while he made his frustrations clear, it's all meant as a reminder to Bills fans to "take a deep breath."

“Ken Dorsey, Josh Allen the combination of those two dudes man - just take a deep breath, relax,” Smith said. “ ... Nobody wants to fix those little inefficiencies more than Ken Dorsey does. Let him attack this offseason.”

Smith played 149 games in his NFL career, posting 73 catches for 523 yards and 11 touchdowns.
