Bills' Leonard Floyd Praises 'Good QB' Jimmy Garoppolo
Former Los Angeles Rams linebacker Leonard Floyd played Jimmy Garoppolo many times in an NFC West rivalry with the San Francisco 49ers.
Now with the Buffalo Bills, that experience could come to play when Floyd faces Garoppolo's Las Vegas Raiders.
"Me and Garoppolo had a lot of games against each other when he was with the 49ers, I know him well," Floyd said via the team's website. "He's just a good quarterback. … He really knows his plays, he's good at the quick game, he's efficient with the short pass."
Floyd started every game for the Rams in the last three years, including the 2021 NFC Championship Game against Garoppolo's Niners.
That impact for a veteran on a young pass rush unit to provide that insight is crucial for the Bills, especially considering the fact that the team is on a short week coming off a rough loss on Monday Night Football against the New York Jets.
The Bills pass rush was able to perform well against the Jets, allowing just 117 yards through the air with Zach Wilson under center. The team recorded three sacks against the Jets, and Floyd was responsible for 1.5 of those.
The Bills need to have a better all-around performance if they want a different result from Monday's loss, and the defensive front should be able to hold up their end of the deal under Floyd's leadership, guidance and expertise on Garoppolo.
The Bills and Raiders kick off Sunday at 1 p.m. inside Highmark Stadium.
