New Bills LB Leonard Floyd Shares Reason for Signing: 'It's Simple!'

Super Bowl ring or not, newly-signed Buffalo Bills linebacker Leonard Floyd is coming off the best years of his career with the Los Angeles Rams.

Leonard Floyd has already experienced the life-changing feeling of winning the Super Bowl during his time with the Los Angeles Rams.

So when an AFC contender like the Buffalo Bills continued to call the free agent linebacker this offseason, the decision to join them on a cheaper deal was easy in his eyes.

“It’s simple,” Floyd said. “I want to win. I want to win the Super Bowl. I’m examining teams, looking at their rosters, and the Bills are the best. I just felt like if I come here I can help the team get there.”

Floyd signed a one-year deal, $7 million deal with Buffalo that could jump up to $9 million with sack incentives, per NFL Network.

After helping the Rams' postseason charge end in a 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals at Super Bowl LVI, Floyd maintained his strong level of play despite LA's 5-12 championship hangover. He posted nine sacks, one fumble recovery and 59 total tackles in 17 games.

But Super Bowl ring or not, Floyd is coming off the best years of his career. In three seasons with the Rams, he proved to be a sack specialist of sorts, reaching the nine-sack mark in each year. If he can post similar production on an already talented Bills defense, another Super Bowl appearance could be well within reach for Floyd.

It's something he realizes too, evident by him signing for less money with Buffalo than he could've gotten elsewhere.

"It's very special, man. It's the opportunity," he said. "Got to seize the moment type, especially. It's something you can't pass up."

Rejoining former Rams teammate and Bills linebacker Von Miller, Floyd will be hoping to add to his trophy case while marking another tally on his postseason sack total, which rose to five in Super Bowl LVI.
