Bills Ex Coach Leslie Frazier: Leaving for NFL Job Search?

Frazier attended the "Coach Accelerator" program at the spring league meetings last week, which allowed him to spend time with team owners who may be making hiring decisions eventually.

Back in late February, then-Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier announced he would be temporarily stepping away from the team and taking a leave of absence.

At the time, he did not indicate his reason for leaving the team but did say he would return in 2024. But at the time, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network said, “It’s not clear that he’ll be back in Buffalo in 2024.”

Frazier attended the "Coach Accelerator" program at the spring league meetings last week, which allowed him to spend time with team owners who may be making hiring decisions eventually.

And now, Frazier appears to be making the rounds looking for his next gig. Josina Anderson of CBS Sports recently reported that Frazier, who had spent two days visiting with the Green Bay Packers, was then spending two days visiting with the Washington Commanders. He would then spend two days visiting with the New York Giants.

Frazier has a loose history with two of those organizations, playing with Commanders coach Ron Rivera in Chicago, and coaching with Giants coach Brian Daboll in Buffalo.

Frazier has been vocal - in his soft-spoken way - about his desire for another NFL head coaching job. His first attempt didn't end well with a 21-32-1 record with the Vikings in Minnesota from 2011-2013. He lost the only postseason game he coached.

Buffalo and Frazier seem to have moved on from one another, even though he technically is still employed here. (Kind of.) For the Bills, the plan is for coach Sean McDermott to handle defensive play-calling. If Frazier was the scapegoat for the Bills' inability to advance to the Super Bowl, this time around, McDermott will have no one to blame but himself.
