Buffalo Bills Looking Forward To Much-Needed Bye Week: 'Coming At A Good Time!'
After falling to 6-6 with Sunday's overtime loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Buffalo Bills have essentially no margin for error the rest of the season, with ESPN's FPI now giving them just a 21.8 percent chance to make the playoffs.
With such a slim margin for error and a brutal schedule coming up, the Bills clearly have the odds stacked against them. Fortunately, they are one of the last teams to have their bye (in Week 13), so they at least have extra time to prepare for the gauntlet ahead.
The late bye week comes with pros and cons, but for safety Micah Hyde, the break is coming at the perfect time given the circumstances.
"I think the bye week, you can always say it comes at a good time, just getting rest," Hyde said after Sunday's game. "This late in the season, it's definitely coming at a good time."
It's hard to not classify this season as a missed opportunity for the Bills, especially considering their Super Bowl aspirations before the year. There have been so many could've, should've, would've's that make Buffalo's .500 record feel like a a huge disappointment.
All that is in the past, though. If the Bills are to turn their season around, they can't waste time lamenting what has already happened.
"We could have nine or 10 wins right now but that's in fantasy land and in real life, we understand what our record is and this is the NFL, man," Hyde said. "We would have liked to get that win, get some momentum going into the bye and going into [Kansas City] next week, but that's the reality. You have to live with it, got to swallow it and find a way to correct things that we haven't been able to correct throughout the first 12 games over the bye week."
Is It Time To Have A Conversation About Bills Coach Sean McDermott?
The schedule doesn't do the Bills' any favors, as their first game after the bye is against the defending-champion Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
