Bills Mafia Praised by NFL Wife During Netflix's 'Quarterback'

Julie Cousins, wife of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk, extended some kind words to Bills Mafia, contrasting Patrick Mahomes' comments on the same show.

Buffalo Bills fans left a lasting impression on the wife of an opposing quarterback, a performance that was recalled in an episode of the Netflix/NFL Films documentary series "Quarterback."

Released earlier this week, "Quarterback" offers a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of three players in the eponymous position, including Kirk Cousins, Patrick Mahomes, and Marcus Mariota. The series has already gained some notoriety among Western New Yorkers for postgame playoff comments from Mahomes but another participant bestowed some kind words for the team's unfettered supporters.

One of Cousins' segments centers on his Minnesota Vikings' visit to Buffalo last November, an instant classic at Highmark Stadium in Week 10. Cousins' wife Julie introduced the portions centered on the Orchard Park endeavor with some kind words for "Bills Mafia."

“I’ve never been to a game with an environment like that,” Cousins declares. "(With) the stands totally packed, the fans standing the entire game, it was really exciting.”

It's perhaps inspiring to see that the Bills left an impression on someone in a purple jersey that afternoon: that game saw Buffalo lose a 27-10 lead in the second half as Cousins helped rally the Vikings to a 33-30 victory in overtime. The game ended deep in Minnesota territory as Buffalo's would-be tying/winning drive was ended on a Patrick Peterson interception.

That game, however, appeared to light a fire under the Bills, one many Mafia members perhaps could've used with temperatures just slightly above freezing. Buffalo did not lose a game for the rest of the regular season, allowing it to clinch its third consecutive division title. The loss to the Vikings, one that featured the two teams uniting for 1,009 total yards, nonetheless stood as one of the most exciting games of the 2022-23 regular season. 

All episodes of "Quarterback" are currently available to stream on Netflix.
