Bills' Micah Hyde Praises LB Baylon Spector: 'He's a Ballplayer!'
Buffalo Bills training camp is underway. This period serves as a time where the team can get extensive looks at players that otherwise might not get the opportunity during the regular season or even preseason.
One player that is seemingly taking advantage of the opportunity is linebacker Baylon Spector, someone that Bills veteran safety Micah Hyde has been praising already. He broke down Spector's performance and complimented him.
"He's a ballplayer, dude," Hyde said of Spector. "Just a guy who is around the ball it seems like all the time."
The middle linebacker position has a hole that needs filling. Tremaine Edmunds took off to the Chicago Bears for a payday in the offseason. Tyrel Dodson and Terrel Bernard both got their turn playing the starting linebacker position and when it was Spector's turn, he took advantage of the opportunity.
"I'm sure he wants the INT back that he dropped today, but it was a hell of a play," Hyde said. "He ran it really nice and Josh [Allen] kind of put some air on it and it kind of went up and it's just one of those plays, probably 50/50."
Spector was a seventh-round draft pick out of Clemson in the 2022 NFL Draft. Now, the pick seems to be potentially paying off as he seems like a candidate to provide depth at middle linebacker.
"It's been really cool to see him grow as a football player from last year to this year," Hyde said. "I'm excited to see his growth in defense and where he goes."
Spector, 24, appeared in just six games last season, totaling six solo tackles in those contests.
The linebacker position will be a particularly interesting position group and battle to keep an eye on as practices continue on and preseason looms. As the season gets closer, there will be a better idea of what direction the Bills could be leaning for the starters at the position.
