Bills Offseason Grade: Did Buffalo Pass or Fail?
The Buffalo Bills haven't had a bad offseason to this point, but they have some work to do before the 2023 season begins if they hope to keep pace in a loaded AFC.
Bleacher Report recently graded what every team has done so far this offseason in advance of the NFL Draft. General manager Brandon Beane and company were praised for "doing an incredible job of retaining key players," but gave the Bills a C+ grade, suggesting there needs to be more impact additions if they hope to return to the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1993 season.
"Buffalo may not be markedly better this season, but it should again be firmly in the AFC playoff mix," BR wrote. "If it can nail the draft and address needs like those of a third wide receiver and a complementary pass-rusher, it may finally emerge as one of the AFC's elite."
The Bills could've addressed their receiving needs by potentially adding Odell Beckham Jr. Rumors connecting the star pass-catcher to Buffalo had been floating around for months, but he decided to sign with the Baltimore Ravens. OBJ would've certainly helped boost Buffalo's current offseason grade.
USC wide receiver Jordan Addison and Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid are among the potential impact pass catchers that have been mocked to the Bills recently, as they look to add another weapon to a group that includes Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis and Dawson Knox.
Of course, if Beane were to trade for three-time All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins before the start of the 2023 season, it would be hard for their offseason grade not to be some variation of an A.
