Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen Scouts 'Physical' Kansas City Chiefs Defense
The Kansas City Chiefs are most known for their high-flying offense, and with stars like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce being the best at their position in the league, that reputation is well-earned.
This season has been a little different, though. The Chiefs' offense is still performing at a high level, but the defense is arguably an even bigger reason for their success, possibly the best defense in the Mahomes era. Heading into Week 14, Kansas City ranks third in scoring defense, fourth in total defense and sixth in defense.
Ahead of Sunday's matchup in Kansas City, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen shared what he believes makes the Chiefs' defense so effective.
"Yeah I think their d-line is playing at a very high level. I think their cornerbacks have been playing very well, they're a physical group, they like to get up and jam and press," Allen told reporters Wednesday. "But anytime you have a d-line that can go disrupt a quarterback, it makes it a lot easier for the back end. … So we have to be prepared for whatever they can bring … make sure am I doing things correctly and making sure if I don't, finding my answers as quickly as possible."
The Bills have been to Arrowhead Stadium what seems like countless times, with the last four matchups against the Chiefs all coming in Kansas City. Buffalo is 2-2 in said matchups, but those two losses came in the playoffs while the two wins occurred in the regular season.
Bills' McDermott Credits Chiefs Coach for Defense's Improvements
This game may not be a playoff game for the Bills, but it might as well be. Buffalo is 6-6 and currently outside the crowded AFC playoff picture while having one of the most-difficult remaining schedules in the league. With that in mind, every win counts for the Bills, no matter how hard they may be to come by.
"We understand what's in front of us and what situation we're in," Allen said. "But we have a lot of guys in this locker room that are very excited to be back and a very, very good feel in this locker room right now for what we need to do."
