Bills Re-Signing A.J. Epenesa After Leonard Floyd Signs With 49ers
The Buffalo Bills will reportedly be losing Leonard Floyd to the San Francisco 49ers after the news of his eventual signing broke Monday, but coach Sean McDermott and staff have been able to retain one of their top pass-rushers to combat the loss.
Per reports from NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Bills are re-signing defensive end A.J. Epenesa to a two-year deal. The terms of the contract have not yet been released.
"The Bills are bringing back DE A.J. Epenesa on a two-year deal, source says," Garafolo tweeted.
Epenesa, 25, had one of the best seasons of his career in 2023. In 15 games, he posted a career-best 20 total tackles while tying his career-high of 6.5 sacks. He also added one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
However, Epenesa's biggest impact was in the passing game, as he tallied the first two interceptions of his career, one of which was returned 32 yards for a touchdown, along with a career-high eight pass breakups.

Epenesa's spent all four of his NFL seasons in Buffalo since being a second-round pick by the Bills in the 2020 draft out of Iowa. He'll now continue to call Buffalo home for the forseeable future.
