Bills Reveal Key Details for New Highmark Stadium: 'Loud And Intimidating'
The Buffalo Bills will have a new home in 2026 when the gates finally open for New Highmark Stadium. The Bills will stay in Orchard Park, New York as it prepares Bills Mafia’s next den.
If the hysteria around “the Pit,” as the construction site is called, is any indication, Buffalo is excited for its new home. This will replace the currently occupied Highmark Stadium, which opened its doors in 1973.
What improvements can fans expect for New Highmark Stadium?
According to the Bills’ website, fans can expect their new home to be more comfortable for themselves and even more intimidating for their opponents. The team published its guiding principles for the new stadium.
- Create a loud and intimidating gameday atmosphere
- Bring fans closer to the action
- Reduce the impact of wind/weather inside the stadium
As such, fans will be brought closer to the gridiron. The last row on the west sideline will be 54 feet closer than it is now, improving both the view and the decibel level the crowd can bring when visiting teams are on offense.
Of course, it’s difficult to visit Buffalo during football season and not acknowledge the blistering cold. Bills Mafia has earned a reputation for its fearlessness, bolding out the winter weather, frequently without the requisite layers – or any above the waist.
Fortunately, fans can rest assured that New Highmark Stadium will be less demanding, with 64 percent of fans covered by a canopy. It’s one of the several gameday experience improvements set to be made.
These improvements continue to the suites, described as “reimagined” with “an inclusive common space.” There are also going to be “Five distinct premium options with varied locations, sight lines and amenities.”
Bills 2024 Bold Predictions: Can Josh Allen Finally Win MVP?
Most won’t be heading for the suites, but those fortunate enough to be season ticket holders will get the first look.
At the Bills Stadium Experience, these fans will be able to set appointments to preview the stadium at the Walker Center. While previewing the new stadium, fans can select their seats (with the option to upgrade) for 2026 and beyond.
