Bills Ownership Shakeup Continues as Parent Company Dissolves

On Thursday, Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula dissolved Pegula Sports and Entertainment, the parent company that oversaw both the Bills and NHL's Buffalo Sabres

In July, the Buffalo Bills underwent a major shakeup in the front office when they suddenly parted ways with president and COO Ron Raccuia, with owner Terry Pegula taking over the role of president.

Then on Monday, the Bills' shakeup continued with another major front office move. However, this one had more to do with the Buffalo Sabres, the Bills' NHL counterparts that Pegula also owns.

Pegula officially named himself president of the Sabres on Monday, just as he did for the Bills last month. In the process, he dissolved Pegula Sports and Entertainment, the parent company that oversaw both franchises. With this move, the Bills and Sabres will now operate as entirely separate entities after previously sharing business and marketing departments.

"We are thankful for the work and effort so many individuals have put into PSE over the years, but feel it is the right time for them to return home to separate organizations," Pegula said in a statement. "We feel that now is the right time to dissolve PSE and allow everyone to focus solely on their respective organization. It is a great time to be a Buffalo sports fan and we have a tremendous amount of confidence that this restructuring will allow our businesses to continue to elevate with our teams."

Despite the split, the two clubs will still share plenty of DNA. In addition to Pegula being the president of both teams, Sabres COO John Roth will oversee the business side of them as well.

This split comes as both franchises are planning major overhauls to their home venues. The Bills are months into construction of their new stadium, which also bears the name Highmark Stadium and is set to open in 2026. Meanwhile, the Sabres are busy planning major upgrades to KeyBank Center, although those won't be completed for several years.

Pegula and his wife Kim Pegula, whom he co-owns both teams with, founded PSE in 2011 after purchasing the Sabres. They then bought the Bills in 2014 after the passing of Ralph Wilson, and have been instrumental in keeping both teams in Buffalo.
