Bills Cap Space: How Much To Spend on Roster?
The majority of the heavy lifting that general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott will have to do from a personnel sense for the Buffalo Bills this offseason has been completed, with most notable free agents signed and the 2023 NFL Draft in the rearview mirror.
So how much cap space do the Bills currently have to work with? According to Over The Cap, the Bills have just of $4.3 million in cap space. That's the 25th mark in the NFL, meaning only seven teams have less cap space currently.
Among AFC East teams, the New England Patriots ($12.4 million) and New York Jets ($9.5 million) each have more cap space than the Bills. However, the Bills do have more cap space than the Miami Dolphins, who currently have just $2.9 million available.
Quarterback Josh Allen ($18.6 million), cornerback Tre'Davious White ($16.2 million) and receiver Stefon Diggs ($14.9 million) will have the highest cap numbers this upcoming season.
Notably, the Bills are on pace to have -2.9 million in cap space next offseason. That could mean that some veterans with high 2024 cap numbers such as Allen ($47 million), Diggs ($27.9 million) and Von Miller ($23.9 million) will end up restructuring their contacts so that Beane continues to have enough cap space for the Bills to keep pace with the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC.
