Bills Use 'Spiderman' Meme to Note Signing of QB Josh Allen Backup Buddy Kyle
It has gone beyond being a meme.
It's now corny and overused.
Unless, that is, the "Spiderman'' meme has a very special and accurate application.
Enter the Buffalo Bills social media team, which always has fun celebrating the greatness of starting QB Josh Allen ...
And which now can have fun with the fact that his new Buffalo backup is Kyle Allen.
The Bills' backup QB shuffle to begin the first week of NFL business saw Case Keenum sign back with his home state Houston Texans. Matt Barkley is still with the Bills, but there was a need for another guy in the QB room.
And Buffalo found itself another "Allen.''
In the interest of accuracy, Kyle Allen, 27, is not exactly the mirror image of Josh Allen, as the internet "Spiderman'' meme would suggest. Truly, the journeyman Kyle is not quite a match for the Pro Bowler Josh. ... as Kyle acknowledged.
“I think Josh is at the top of the list,” Kyle said. "Just from a quarterback standpoint around the entire NFL, he’s one of the best in the league. And he does it the right way.''
They do happen to be close friends, that's their only connection; they aren't related. And indeed, it seems Josh not only endorsed the signing but pretty much recruited his buddy, who played last year in Houston, to Buffalo.
Or maybe it was Kyle who was doing the pushing.
“I didn’t have to pitch much,” Kyle said of Josh. “I’m probably gonna beat him in golf now, that’s about it.''
