Bills ‘Funny Business’ at Camp? Stefon Diggs Update via Insider
Despite the fact he eventually showed up for the team’s mandatory minicamp, the talk and drama surrounding Buffalo Bills star receiver Stefon Diggs likely won’t end until he’s on the field with the offense for Week 1 against the New York Jets. And even then, there could still be concerns that an internal rift between him and the team will remain until Buffalo hoists the elusive Lombardi Trophy.
But at least for now, it appears the gossip can be pushed aside as the Bills creep closer to the start of training camp on Wednesday, July 26.
ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler recently made an appearance on "The Rich Eisen Show" and gave Bills Mafia a reason to feel hopeful that the entire ordeal can be put to rest before the season starts.
"They don’t really expect any funny business here," Fowler said. "They do believe they have this resolved.”
And why is that?
“I was told pretty adamantly that Diggs would not have been there for that minicamp practice on the field had he not felt that they were in a little better of a place than they were before that Tuesday,” Fowler said. “I do sense that things are positive, and I’m told the Bills fully expect him for training camp."
Any more absences from Diggs during July's training camp would likely cause endless headaches for the fans, players and coaches. Instead of the media focus being on the guys that were at mandatory minicamp, all anyone could do was talk about the star receiver.
Of course, this is understandable when one of the team's best players is no where to be seen, especially when it's for reasons unknown to anyone outside of the organization.
"Funny business"? It's certainly felt that way. But at least for the sake of the Bills, they seem to be trending away from a forgettable past few weeks.
