Bills Ex Takeo Spikes Slams Team For Seating Placement at Game

Former Buffalo Bills linebacker Takeo Spikes, the team's Legend of the Game for Sunday's home opener, expressed frustration over his seating accommodations.

The Buffalo Bills honored former linebacker Takeo Spikes as the team's Legend of the Game in Sunday's home opener against the Las Vegas Raiders, but it wasn't quite the homecoming he expected.

Spikes, who played with the Bills from 2003-06, had the opportunity to fire up the home crowd ahead of kickoff. Once the game began, though, Spikes' situation was far less glamorous.

After the game, Spikes took to Twitter to voice his frustrations over his seating placement. In the picture he shared, he showed just how obstructed his view of the field was.

"Congrats to @BuffaloBills for getting a dominant win in home opener. I wish I could've stayed for the entire game but seating accomodations were NOT the standard," Spikes said in a quote tweet. How you gonna have the @NFLLegends supporting with this obstructed sample size of a view!? Felt like I was in timeout."

Later on, Spikes said "disappointing is an understatement" in a reply to his previous tweet. He then replied to another fan who stated another one of his former teams, the San Francisco 49ers, would treat him better by saying "I already know!"

The Bills trounced the Raiders 38-10 on Sunday to get their first win of the season. While a great win for the franchise, Spikes wasn't able to fully enjoy it.

Spikes, 46, had the most successful stretch of his career in Buffalo. He earned Pro Bowl selections in 2003 and 2004, while also gaining All-Pro recognition in the latter year. In four seasons in Buffalo, Spikes had 187 solo tackles, 15 tackles for loss, seven sacks, 29 passes defended and seven interceptions.

Spikes, the No. 13 pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, spent the first five seasons of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals before coming to Buffalo. After leaving the Bills, he spent time with the 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and then-San Diego Chargers before retiring after the 2012 campaign.
