Tom Brady on Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen: 'He's Like My Oldest Son!'

Tom Brady seems to have taken Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen under his wing post-retirement.

Tom Brady has never been shy about taking fellow quarterbacks under his wing, and Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen appears to be one of his latest disciples.

Yes, the man who tortured the Bills for two decades is now seemingly mentoring their face of the franchise. Allen recently appeared on Brady's Let's Go podcast, with the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star advising Allen to be more cautious while running the ball. Allen, though, didn't seem too keen on changing the way he plays any time soon.

Later on in the podcast, Brady went more in-depth on how he views his relationship with Allen.

"He's like my oldest son," Brady said. "I try to tell him, but in the end, he's just gotta do it his way. Speaking from a few years of experience, he still just wants to do it his way.

"Josh is right and a lot of playing quarterback, in the end, is about mitigating risk. Like, for example, you could throw a ball into tight coverage and go, 'you know, look, sometimes you just gotta make throws into tight coverage,' or sometimes you could just throw the ball to a guy that may be a little bit more open and gain a few less yards. That's my point, is we sometimes have to make decisions in certain moments to check the ball down or to gain a few yards and move on."

Obviously, Brady is more so comparing Allen to his oldest son, 16-year-old Jack, in a personality sense. However, Brady, 46, is old enough to be a father-figure of sorts to the 27-year-old Allen. To Bills fans, that probably sounds the same as Darth Vader being the father of Luke Skywalker, but the point stands regardless.

In terms of play style, Brady and Allen are very far apart. Brady was a pocket passer who was more than happy to take what was available. Allen, meanwhile, is a mobile gunslinger who isn't afraid to play hero ball, for better or worse.

Nonetheless, learning under Brady should help Allen immensely on the field.
