New York Move: Two Bills - Jamison Crowder and Tommy Sweeney - Bolt for Giants

The Buffalo Bills have lost two targets to Brian Daboll and Joe Shoen's developing project with the New York Giants.

Despite their new metropolitan-based branding, former Buffalo Bills receiver Jamison Crowder and Tommy Sweeney will no longer play in New York.

Crowder and Sweeney are on their way to the New York Giants, with Big Blue confirming their respective signings on Thursday. The former Bills will join fellow Western New York alumni in head coach Brian Daboll, receiver Isaiah Hodgins and general manager Joe Schoen as they seek to build on a breakout 2022-23 campaign that led to the team's first playoff appearance in five years.

Sweeney's Buffalo tenure ends following four seasons (2019-22) after he joined the team as a seventh-round pick out of Boston College in 2019. It will serve as a homecoming for the tight end, who grew up in Northern New Jersey in Ramsey, a half-hour drive from the Giants' home of MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

Used primarily for his blocking, Sweeney tallied 165 yards on 18 receptions over 24 appearances with the Bills, his best Buffalo box score coming in the 2019-20 season finale against the Jets (76 yards on five catches). He'll likely fill a similar role with the Giants, who recently brought in Pro Bowler Darren Waller.

Crowder likewise faces a Garden state homecoming, having spent three years with the New York Jets (2019-21) before inking a one-season deal in Buffalo last spring. Though Crowder established himself as a reliable slot receiver between his time in New York and Washington (2015-18), his Buffalo tenure lasted a mere four games due to an ankle injury that required placement on injured reserve. He earned 60 yards on six receptions in that span.

The Bills won't have to wait long for a reunion of their own, as the Giants are set to visit Highmark Stadium sometime this fall.
