Buffalo Bills Trade Rumor: Adam Thielen as New Josh Allen Target?

If we are in search of an NFL team that defines the idea of "seller'' as the Oct. 31 trade deadline approaches, the Carolina Panthers - going nowhere at just 0-6 this season - fit the bill.

Meanwhile, if we are in search of a "buyer''? The Buffalo Bills, talented but struggling, might just qualify.

Is a trade for a veteran player like wide receiver Adam Thielen where "seller'' meets "buyer''?

Thielen and the Bills?

The Bills are a bit of a puzzle. They are 4-3 and they have a track record that earns the respect of their rivals. But they are coming off of an awful Week 7 loss to the New England Patriots, a continuation of a three-week struggle to get it just right.

Stefon Diggs is of course a constant in the Josh Allen-led passing game. But after that, even with Gabe Davis? There are inconsistencies.

And that is where a guy like Thielen could justifiably enter the conversation.

Our colleague Ryan Talbot of NewYorkUpstate.com is pushing beyond "justifiable'' and envisions Thielen as trade target for the Bills and as a pass-catching target for Allen.

'Fun Is Scoring TDs!' Diggs on Slump

Maybe the Panthers want to keep him because he's a helper in the development of prized rookie QB Bryce Young’s favorite target early on. And maybe the Bills do not want to overreach here because Thielen is under contract through the end of next season and is already 33 years old.

But if the Bills are looking for a moderate "go-for-it'' swap? Thielen was thought to have been out of gas in Minnesota, where once upon a time he teamed with Diggs as one of the NFL's top wideout combos. But this year, he's got 49 catches for 509 yards and four touchdowns through six games.

Is there some magic to be recaptured with Thielen and Diggs? Depending on the price, it is not difficult to see the match.
