Bills Trade Up to Select Utah TE Dalton Kincaid at No. 25 Overall

The Buffalo Bills traded up with the Jacksonville Jaguars to select Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid.

The Buffalo Bills must have been getting impatient, as they traded up two spots to No. 25 with the Jacksonville Jaguars to select Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid in the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday night.

In the deal, Buffalo sent Jacksonville the No. 27 and No. 130 picks.

Kincaid is the first tight end off the board in a very talented class. He was one of the top tight ends leading up to the draft, alongside Notre Dame's Michael Mayer and Georgia's Darnell Washington.

SI Draft Bible says Kincaid "lacks elite agility, burst, play strength, and speed, but his reliable hands, ball skills, savvy route running, improving blocking, and nonexistent fear of contact make him an attractive high-floor player who should hear his name called on the second day of the draft."

Buffalo already has a quality tight end starting in Dawson Knox, who had 48 receptions for 517 yards and six touchdowns in 2022. Now with Kincaid in the mix, the Bills have two talented tight ends to work with.

"Kincaid uses his excellent ball skills, tracking, and basketball background to turn 50-50 contested catches into 70-30 situations in his favor," SI Draft Bible writes. "He has some of the best hands among all draft-eligible players in the 2023 class. Kincaid is a natural hands catcher who rises above the rim to meet the ball when a defender is in his air space."

In 12 games for the Utes last season, Kincaid recorded 70 receptions for 890 yards and eight touchdowns. He had the second-most receiving yards in the FBS among tight ends.

The Bills are on the clock again with the No. 59 pick in the second round.
