Bills Sign Ex Rams LB Travin Howard
The Buffalo Bills have added to their defense once again before the start of OTAs.
The team has signed former Los Angeles Rams linebacker Travin Howard to a one-year deal, per reports Saturday from The Score’s NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Originally a seventh-round pick out of TCU in 2018, Howard carved out a role for himself before helping the Rams win Super Bowl LVI during the 2021 season. He’s posted 44 tackles in 29 career regular-season games.
Howard appeared in all four of LA’s postseason games during the championship run, totaling 10 tackles and three passes defended. But most importantly, he came up with the game-sealing interception in the final minute of the Rams’ 20-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship, which helped send LA to the Super Bowl.
However, Howard underwent core muscle surgery last offseason and failed to recapture his momentum. He appeared in just one game this past season.
The signing comes shortly after the Bills added former Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Poona Ford to the interior. The team also drafted Tulane linebacker Dorian Williams in the third round of this year’s draft.
Howard will now join a talented defense that already features Greg Rousseau, Von Miller, Matt Milano and Shaq Lawson on the front and Tre’Davious White, Kaiir Elam, Jordan Poyer, Taron Johnson and former Ram Taylor Rapp in the backend.
