Bills Kicker Tyler Bass Deactivates Social Media After Brutal Miss vs. Chiefs
Unfortunately, Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass has bore the brunt of the team's heartbreaking 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Sunday's Divisional Round game.
With less than two minutes left in regulation, the Bills sent Bass out to attempt a 44-yard field goal that could've tied the game. The kick looked like it would be good initially, but then took a sharp hook to the right and wound up sailing wide.
The Chiefs would run out the clock shortly after, and as older Bills fans got traumatic flashbacks to Scott Norwood in Super Bowl XXV, CBS announcer Jim Nantz put it best.
"Wide right. The two most-dreaded words in Buffalo have surfaced again," Nantz said on the call.
Bass is far from the only reason why the Bills lost, but with his missed kick being the team's last gasp for air, many fans have sadly blamed him for the end result. Considering the vitriol he received, it may not come as a shock that Bass deactivated both his X and Instagram accounts in the aftermath of the game.
Bass, 26, had a rough postseason overall as he missed three of five kicks in two games. His teammates have come to his defense, with star quarterback Josh Allen supporting him with poignant phrase "you win as a team, you lose as a team." However, Bass has understandably taken it quite hard on himself.
'I Feel Terrible!' Bass Reacts to Critical Miss vs. Chiefs
"I feel terrible," Bass told reporters after the game. "I love this team, and it hurts. This one hurts bad. I've got to do a better job."
Bass is clearly going through a tough time right now, and some fans have not made it any better. At the end of the day, one can only hope he gets the support he needs.
