Bills’ Von Miller Praises Brandon Beane: 'Best GM in Sports!’

Von Miller spoke to NFL insider Josina Anderson about beginning the season on PUP and Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane.

For as much progress as Von Miller has made since tearing his ACL on Thanksgiving, more goes into his return than just how his knee has progressed.

Miller spoke to NFL insider Josina Anderson about his health and how he has been progressing. While he'll begin the season on the physically unable-to-perform list and miss the Buffalo Bills' first four games, Miller said he's on the same page with general manager Brandon Beane and complimented him for making that decision.

“Physically, I feel good," Miller told Anderson. "I just needed more time for football in general. Not necessarily my knee. Ultimately, it wasn’t my decision, and that’s what makes Brandon Beane the best GM in all of sports. I trust the Bills like no other team that I’ve been on…I feel good. I just needed more time for my overall health.”

There's no disputing Miller's value both on the Bills defense and as a leader. He had eight sacks in 11 games for Buffalo before his injury. On top of his individual accolades. Miller has been to the pinnacle of the sport, winning two Super Bowls, an achievement that's eluded the Bills throughout their history as a franchise.

If the Bills are going to make a Super Bowl run, they need Miller to be on the field and at his best. Rushing him back would have jeopardized that, which has given Miller more appreciation of Beane for his ability to see the importance in that.

“The thing that I feel Beane is good at is that he is able to see Von as a whole," Miller said. "Even though I feel good, he’s able to make those important decisions like he’s been doing. He’s the best GM in all of sports...It’s just four more weeks. I waited this long. I can wait four more weeks.”

In the meantime, the former All-Pro outside linebacker will be around the team as he nears his return.

The Bills begin their season on Monday when they face their division rival, the New York Jets, at MetLife Stadium at 8:15 p.m. ET.
