Bills Ex & Halftime Retiree Vontae Davis Arrested

Former Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis, who is best known for retiring from the NFL at halftime in Week 2 of the 2018 season, was arrested Saturday.

Former Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis was arrested in Florida Saturday night after being accused of driving under the influence, per multiple reports.

One report from WIVB in Buffalo says that Davis' "vehicle rear-ended a pick-up truck that was pulled over with a flat tire" in Hollywood, Fla., causing an injury to the driver. Davis was reportedly found asleep on the side of the road when police arrived, admitting that he had been drinking once questioned.

Davis, who spent the majority of his 10-year career as a Pro Bowl cornerback with the Indianapolis Colts, might be best known for what happened during his insansely short time with the Bills in 2018.

In a Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Chargers that season, Davis officially retired at halftime in a move that had never been seen before in the league. It was the final time he'd play in the NFL.

Davis released a statement after his short stint with Buffalo and the out-of-nowhere-retirement:

“This isn’t how I pictured retiring from the NFL, but in my 10th NFL season, I have been doing what my body has been programmed to do: Get ready to play on game day. I’ve endured multiple surgeries and played through many different injuries throughout my career and, over the last few weeks, this was the latest physical challenge.”

Buffalo would go on to lose that game 31-20, as Davis had totaled just one tackle in the only game of his Bills career.
