Buffalo Bills WR Gabe Davis 'Heartbroken' Over Firing of Coach Ken Dorsey
Following Monday night's crushing loss to the Denver Broncos, the Buffalo Bills are feeling the heat as they sit with a 5-5 record ahead of Sunday's Week 11 matchup with the New York Jets.
With arguably the toughest remaining schedule left this season, the Bills wasted no time making changes following the loss and fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey on Tuesday.
It's easy to imagine that this is difficult for some of the players. Losing creates a domino effect, and daily work relationships that the team has worked hard to build can come to a sudden end.
For Bills receiver Gabe Davis, Dorsey's departure hit especially home.
"He was an awesome OC and a great friend to all of us," Davis said. "I was heartbroken."
Davis has been faced with questions this season about his ability to be an elite receiver and a consistent complement to Bills star Stefon Diggs. A first-time team captain this season, Davis also received some criticism on social media for declining to speak with the media following Monday's loss despite his status as captain.
It didn't get any easier for Davis when he wakes up the news Tuesday that a coach he's built a friendship with will no longer be in the building.
Maybe with interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Davis can recapture the spark he had earlier in the season when he caught a touchdown in four straight games from Week 2 through Week 5.

Davis has posted 33 catches for 490 yards and five touchdowns this season. He's had some big games, but has been invisible in other weeks with a few one- or no-catch performances.
He'll look to get back on track Sunday when the Bills and Jets kickoff from Highmark Stadium at 4:25 p.m. ET.
