Josh Allen is 'New John Elway on Steroids!' Buffalo Bills QB Scouted by Miami Dolphins Coach Ahead of Week 18 Showdown

The Miami Dolphins coaching staff doesn't mean it like that.

They mean it like ... well, let's let Vic Fangio put into his own words his admiration for Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen.

Allen, Miami defensive coordinator Fangio said, "the new John Elway on steroids."

Wait. What?

Fangio immediately made it clear he is not asking for the NFL to launch an investigation into the 6-5, 240-pound quarterback as to whether his MVP-level campaign is fueled by performance-enhancing substances.

No, he's simply saying that in terms of being "a beast of a guy,'' Allen is Elway-like.

"They are very similar," Fangio said of Allen and Elway. "Different body types, different running styles, but the same problems for sure. Allen is just a beast of a guy. A physical specimen."

Fangio, who coached the Denver Broncos while Elway - the greatest QB in Broncos history and in terms of physical gifts arguably the greatest QB talent ever - was an executive, labeled Allen "a dude."

And yes, that is meant as a compliment as well.

Allen has bigger-than-prototype size. A rocket for an arm. And talents that make him a threat as a runner as well.

Joe Brady Reveals Impact of Previous Win Over Dolphins

Elway, who starred in Denver from 1983 to 1998, was 6-3 and 220, and on the way to winning two Super Bowls earned every possible individual accolade, including a Hall of Fame induction.

Allen is arguably on the same path - especially if he can help Buffalo to that elusive Super Bowl. That pursuit continues on as the Dolphins and Bills close the 2023 regular season with a "Sunday Night Football'' matchup in Florida that kicks off at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC. ... giving Buffalo a chance to win the division crown for the fourth straight time with a Week 18 win.
